An Important Vise Mounting Tip
It is often desired to mount a vise close to the edge of a workbench so that items may sometimes be secured vertically in the vise and extending below the top of the workbench. I thought doing so would require the vise to be mounted too close to the edge of my wood workbench (possibly causing the edge of the wood to eventually split off). An easy solution is to mount the vise ¾” further inward from the edge of the bench. Then when desiring to clamp a piece vertically in the vise, simply use a ¾” wood (scrap) spacer block on the inward jaw of the vise. The only small disadvantage of this method is that the jaw opening is decreased by ¾” when clamping an item vertically. But the big advantage is that my vise is mounted securely onto my wood workbench. So far, I have been well pleased with this Yost 445 vise.

Not perfect but not terrible
Positives, the vise has good weight to it. The size was perfect. The paint on it seems to be nice and thick. Smooth opening and closing. Negatives, the jaws don't perfectly line up when you close them. You have to kind nudge the moving jaw with hand to make them line up correctly. It's not easy to rotate. You have to loosen the two locking screws almost to the point of them completely disassembling and you still have to lift the vise to spin it on the base.

Great Vise With One Weird Issue
I bought this vise on the recommendation of a YouTuber. It's the perfect size for my 30" X 60" workbench. It's super sturdy and Yost has an excellent reputation. The one thing I have experienced is: if I clamp something in it and the item is not perfectly centered over the beam, The vise will jam when I loosen the jaw. It takes me having to give the outboard jaw a firm but not crazy hard bump on the side with the palm of my hand to release it. I have gotten used to it and I don't know if this is something common to this model but it's what happens to mine. Otherwise, I'm happy with it.

Great Product for the Money
Well finished and easy to install; I merely drilled four holes through the wood top and secured it with 2 1/2" bolts, washers and lock-nuts. Very well sized for my home workbench.

Decent
Replaced a 60 yr old Wilton vise. This yost is a decent vise for the money. I doubt it will last sixty yrs but I know I will not either. Does the job satisfied for the price.

great for small work bench
This vice is a perfect size for your average tinkerer. Not industrial duty, but strong enough to hold a 2x4 or 1 inch pipe to do a repair project. With soft jaws even your weapons

Seems OK
Used it for punching holes in a leather belt. My punch made indents in the flat area to be used for this purpose. Found that a bit surprising since supposed to be hardened steel. But over all, it works . I like the fact that can rotate it to accommodate the particular task that need a vise for.

ok depending on your application
Its ok depending on your application. Overall I didn't really like this vise. Too much play in the jaws. The horizontal bar through-piece is rolled steel, not cast, not precise enough to give precise alignment and reduce slack. All cast would be much better. Also, the screw is roughly machined resulting in rough turning movement. On the plus side, has separate jaws for holding pipe (two sizes) which is why I ordered it in the first place.

Great vise
Make sure to mount this properly (I used metal washers above and below to distribute pressure and small rubber washers between the vice and my bench top for maximum stability), and it’ll work beautifully. Swivel works great (360 degrees) and it does its job. Super solid and good value.

Low Quality
Very cheaply made. Price reflects its quality. Poor action when operating, spring grind and loose fitting jaws. Will use as secondary tool for light jobs. However, Shipping and deliver was excellent. LOL.

Good from the price point
For light jobs ok...not for heavy duty stuffs. I you need to hammer and knock hard this is not a vise for you. Other than that sawing etc it's suitable. The vise it's a bit light in weight and does not give one a solid feeling when using.
